I remember when the first Monsters movie came out (it was Monsters Inc. in 2001) and how I loved it right from the start. Both Monsters Inc. and Monsters University have an interesting framework about leadership and this week we will talk about it from a personal context. Mike Wazowski is a very disciplined person. [...]
For those of you who may not know the Bug’s Life story (or haven’t seen it in a long time), it centers around Flik. Flik is an ant living in a colony that is oppressed by a gang of grasshoppers. But Flik is unlike most of the other ants in the colony in that he [...]
As I was about to finish the Toy Story part of this series, I heard the theme song for Toy Story on the radio. The song if you don’t know it is “You’ve Got a Friend in Me.” The lyrics emphasize loyalty, support and enduring friendship…something all of us need. It made me truly think [...]
Have you ever thought about the parents in Toy Story? We see Andy’s mom (Ms. Davis is her name by the way.) Not a lot of attention is focused on her, but she represents the larger forces that shape a child’s world without being the center of it! The mom is a symbol of change [...]
I love Jessie and Bo-Peep in Toy Story…as the “love interests” of Buzz and Woody respectively. They are also two different “women” with different strengths, identity and leadership. Jessie uses her independence as a defense and leads by energy, urgency, and emotional intuition. Whereas Bo-Peep leads by clarity, competence, and calm decisiveness. Both Jessie and [...]
I want to start off this series talking about the one that started it all, Toy Story. There are so many themes in Toy Story but let’s talk this week about Buzz vs. Woody. Who is your favorite and why? I love Woody as he is symbolic of the part of us that wants to [...]
Everyone knows what a Disney fan I am…but I am also a Pixar movie fan and this summer with the release of Toy Story 5, Pixar will have 30 feature films! I also have people tell me all the time about how they loved my posts about how we are like Disney princesses…so I thought [...]
Over the past 5 weeks, I have detailed the 5 lessons that Will Smith learns in Episode 4 of his Pole to Pole documentary. This episode (The Secret to Happiness) made me think about how we truly get happiness back into our lives. Will took the happiness journey which included Pleasure, Stress, Meaning, Connection and [...]
My husband and I love to watch a good documentary at night and recently we have been watching Pole to Pole with Will Smith (National Geographic.) It is absolutely an amazing tour of the extremes of our world from the South Pole to the North Pole! In the 4th episode, called The Secret of Happiness, Will [...]

What do you really want to do, pivot away from or start over with? If there is something, I would encourage you to “purpose your passion”. We can let fear or perfection get in our way of something that we are truly passionate about. In life, by pursuing our passion, we align our work with [...]
When is the last time you said goodbye? Maybe it was this morning before you left the house or maybe…you need to say goodbye to something you don’t love. You shouldn’t feel bad about saying goodbye to things you don’t love but think of it as loving yourself! We often need to “let go” in [...]
Let’s talk this week about self-awareness. Self-awareness is realizing that there is no opponent – you’re fighting against yourself. But you need to be self-aware so that you can recognize and understand your thoughts, your emotions and your patterns. By doing this, you will be able to address those internal conflicts and the behaviors that [...]
As I was reflecting the past few days as we entered 2026 and writing my next blogs/articles, I came across the things that we should all “quit”. Let’s talk about them in more detail. Pleasing everyone – you should prioritize yourself as that will lead to healthier relationships, your personal growth and emotional well-being. Fear [...]
WOW…I can’t believe that 2025 is over and that we almost in 2026! Whenever a New Year comes around, I like to reflect on the past year and set intentions for the next year (note that I did not say resolutions). I have talked before about how having an intention will help you move the [...]
I LOVE pretty much all Christmas Movies! But one of my favorite stories is the story of A Christmas Carol. Did you know that this was originally a novella (short story) written by Charles Dickens in 1943? If you have never read the novella, I would highly recommend that you do! The story always gets [...]
I found out recently about a situation that happened to a friend of mine. Have you ever had someone put in writing negative comments about you? Should we put in writing things about other women and then share them with others? Is doing that truly “constructive criticism” or just plain mean? When we put [...]
