I LOVE pretty much all Christmas Movies! But one of my favorite stories is the story of A Christmas Carol. Did you know that this was originally a novella (short story) written by Charles Dickens in 1943? If you have never read the novella, I would highly recommend that you do!
The story always gets me thinking about how our past shapes our future. We all have a past and we all have things we wish we could change from our past, but if they changed, would we be the same today? And should we continue to lament things from our past instead of living in the present and being the best that we can be today? Our Ghost of Christmas Past makes us who we are today, and our Ghost of Christmas Present tells us that we need to live today and enjoy the life that we have.
What about our Ghost of Christmas Future? Like Ebenezer Scrooge, we can change if we are not happy where we are today. We can use our past and present experiences to work toward the person we want to become…whatever that means for you.
In this Christmas Season, it is a time to remember all the good things in life and maybe consider making the season better for someone else either by giving to a charity, volunteering time or doing something that may make someone else feel good (and it will probably make you feel good too)!
Wishing you a Merry Christmas full of hope, joy, love and peace!
