So least week we talked about the personal leadership that we learned from Mike and Sulley, but this week let’s talk about teamwork! The fraternity in Monsters University struggles due to poor communication at the start. But when the team works together and aligns their goals, they succeed. This reminds us that effective leaders must foster open and clear communication to help their team succeed.
The other thing that happens to Mike and Sulley is that they learn to appreciate their teammates. Even though their teammates are misfits, true leadership involves understanding people’s strengths and being strategic when assigning responsibilities.
The fraternity experiences many setbacks, but the strong leadership encourages that learning from failure can drive future success. Mike also realizes that success doesn’t always follow a straight path and instead must adapt based on the circumstances and the talents of the team members.
The leadership across both Monsters Inc and Monsters University reminds us that leaders must understand their own strengths and limitations and how it impacts others. Leaders also are reminded that we often must adjust our strategy when faced with unforeseen challenges. Breaking from tradition may lead you to other opportunities!
