So I know that I did not cover every Disney Princess in this series and as well there are several Disney characters that are not officially part of the Disney Princess lineup.  Women like Jane Porter from Tarzan, Maid Marion from Robin Hood, Giselle from Enchanted and even Vanellope von Schweetz from Wreck-it-Ralph could be considered Princesses.  These are all significant characters in their stories and may hold a place in our hearts just like the “real” Disney Princesses.

As I was reflecting back on the past weeks, for me there are 3 main themes that I heard repeatedly when looking back at the review of the Disney Princesses so let’s just recap them briefly.

  • BE BRAVE – Mulan, Merida, Moana and Rapunzel all had to be brave and step out of their comfort zones to discover their truth.  As women we try to be perfect and not rock the boat but when we are brave it takes us in a different direction.  Bravery will bring out our resilience, vulnerability and self-compassion!
  • LOVE – So many of our Disney Princesses find love including Belle, Jasmine and Aurora.  Love is a powerful phenomenon that goes beyond emotion and can bridge the gap between individuals.  Having a loving relationship can create a sense of unity.  Nurturing it requires attention, honesty, openness, vulnerability and gratitude!
  • TRUE TO OURSELVES – Ariel, Tiana and Jasmine all found out how important is what to be true to themselves.  I talk frequently about how we should be authentic and how authenticity is a powerful force for our identity and moving forward in our world.  Authenticity can also be described as a feeling…and a feeling that makes us feel good!  Being authentic can give us awareness and drive our behaviors so it is important to always be your authentic self!

Who is your favorite Disney Princess and what is your greatest lesson?
