So, in this week’s Why I Love Disney, I am going to talk about Tinkerbell. First of all, she is not actually a princess but she is special and she actually leads a group of her own, the Disney Fairies!
Tinkerbell is Peter Pan’s sidekick and is a very sassy fairy! Tink regularly joins Peter on his exploits in Neverland. She values their relationship, and other girls make her jealous and spiteful. Tink is also equipped with Pixie Dust which allows her and others to fly as long as they have “wonderful thoughts”.
Despite her cute appearance, Tinker Bell is very sassy, feisty, stubborn, and hot-tempered. Upon meeting Wendy and other human females, Tink immediately shows disgust and irritation, mostly out of jealousy. This drives Tink to perform selfish acts that annoy Peter. However, Tink is devoted and loyal to those she loves and will eventually come to terms with those she initially resents, should they prove themselves worthy of friendly treatment.
Tinkerbell also has her own movie which came out in 2008 and shows the growth of her character! She starts off as a lonely tinker and ultimately must change her talent to get to the mainland. Tink ultimately realized that being a Tinker was who she was supposed to be and she would not let anyone change her perspective.
Tinkerbell contains a lot of life lessons that need to be learned in everyday life. Some lessons that Tink learned include how if you are meant to be something, your friends should want you to be that instead of trying to change you. And you should focus on accepting yourself and who you are meant to be. Tink was ashamed to be a tinker but later found great joy in what she was doing.
My lesson: You can be whatever you want to be and that friends should always be there for you!
