Last week I talked about how to be present…but how do we manage that when we have so many things on our to-do list and only so many hours in a day. Often we like to talk about a work-life balance but instead I think we should talk about our work-life harmony.
Work-life harmony is about YOU!!! It’s about the energy you have and where you spend time to make sure you have overall well-being. When we talk about work-life harmony, I actually think that we should talk about two main concepts which are be NOURISHED and be DISCIPLINED.
When we talk about being nourished, we could be talking about the food we put into our body and clearly that is extremely important but I think we should also talk about your personal time. The time you spend on yourself should be non-negotiable. It is not a luxury or something we can do without, but instead should be a priority! We should cherish our souls with mindfulness, positive thinking and self-care.
When we talk about being disciplined, it is not about managing our time but instead managing our boundaries. We need to have structure and a schedule in our life and that should include time for us to exercise and take care of our bodies. But it can also mean taking back control of the things in our life that can get out of control…sometimes we need to force ourselves to move onto the next thing instead of spiraling out of control. Finally we need to practice self-care and avoid trying to be perfect.
Be deliberate in our self-discipline and nourishment to improve the “out of control” aspects of our life!
