There may be some debate if Mulan is really a princess, she is a Chinese warrior who goes to war to protect her father. But Disney considers her a princess and her actions are driven by her love for her family and her desire to honor them.
There are so many takeaways when it comes to Mulan and the first is that during her journey she learns a lot about herself. She discovers her strengths and capabilities that she may not have realized if she didn’t take the risk of going to war. Mulan also has perseverance and inner strength. She never gives up and her journey shows that true strength comes from within.
But I truly think that my favorite lessons of Mulan are Courage and Breaking Stereotypes. Mulan shows immense courage when she takes her father’s place in the army and even though she faces numerous challenges she shows that bravery involves stepping out of your comfort zone. When it comes to Breaking Stereotypes, Mulan challenges traditional gender roles by proving that women are just as strong and capable as men.
My lesson: Be brave, challenge norms, and stay true to ourselves and our values.
