The second “official” princess on the list is Cinderella. This is definitely one of the great classic Princesses of all time (and my favorite). Cinderella is a young woman whose stepfamily mistreats her and makes her do all the work. She has a fairy godmother who gives her everything she needs to attend the ball and meet the prince.
Her fairy godmother gives her a dress and a carriage to attend the ball. When she needs to run away at midnight (because the fairy godmother’s spell will wear off) she leaves behind her glass slipper. The prince finds the glass slipper and ultimately finds her and of course falls in love with her (and they live happily ever after).
So what do we learn from Cinderella? We learn that kindness always wins. Even though she is mistreated by her stepmother and stepsisters, she remains kind and good-hearted. The kindness is ultimately rewarded when she meets the prince and finds happiness.
Cinderella is also a story of perseverance and courage. Her determination to attend the ball, despite the circumstances, shows how important courage and believing in yourself is even when there are adverse conditions.
Cinderella’s story has themes of resilience, kindness and transformation that makes her a symbol of hope and aspiration. She is timeless in the fact that she speaks to our yearning for triumph over adversity and the pursuit of love and happiness.
My lesson: Being a good person will also triumph over those who are selfish and cruel. Some inspiration for all of us!
