We all have had that time (and probably many times) when we were un-realistic with ourselves.  It is also proven that negative and unrealistic thoughts (pessimism) is not good for our health.  Instead we should be realistically optimistic… blending our hopeful mindset with a practical approach to life.

We have to learn to manage our mind and keep our thoughts in check.  Most of our life will face some sort of challenge but setting realistic expectations is key.  If you don’t expect a challenge and expect life to always be a straight line, you will be setting yourself up for failure.

One quote that I love from the “Power of Positive Thinking” is “When you expect the best, you release a magnetic force in your mind which by a law of attraction tends to bring the best to you”.  Optimists tend to be happier and healthier which all comes down to being realistic with ourselves!

When we are realistic about our future and make decisions based on actual evidence, it can bring a sense of well-being.  In addition, sometimes we just need to “let go” of things as this can help us to refocus and meet our goals.  Focusing on what we have already accomplished will also help us to be more realistic in what we can accomplish in our future and to appreciate what we already have!
