We all are in the world where we have a LOT of things going on and often, we are overwhelmed with our “to do” list! I know that I often try to do too many things and overwhelm myself.
But one of the things I am working on and trying to do everyday is to give myself time to manage my schedule. These are things that let me be “present” in life. Focusing too much on the past and the future can make us overlook what is right in front of us!
Here are some tips to make sure you are staying present:
Be conscious about your thoughts and activities – focus on your five senses.
Notice your surroundings – take a walk or go out in nature to allow yourself time to slow down.
Focus on one thing at a time and be mindful of everything you do – multi-tasking is actually not good for us and splitting our attention makes us feel overwhelmed.
Be grateful for what you have now – schedule time to just be in the moment and worrying about something that did or may happen does not allow us peace.
Practice mindfulness, meditation and other relaxation techniques – breathing techniques and mediation are ways that help us to be in the here and now.
Change the way you do things (or do them in a different order) to break your routine and become more aware. Being present in relationships and conversations and actually listening will change your thought process.
